Home Summer Community Picnic Highlights

On Thursday, 27th July, our Food Bank Manager Anna and dedicated Project Managers organised Community Picnic for our Food Bank members and the wider community. With over 200 people of all ages and cultures in attendance, it was a day full of celebration, joy, and yummy food.

The picnic was held in our new Community Hub to give back to our Food Bank members and bring the community together, and we are delighted to say that it was a roaring success.

Everyone who came enjoyed delicious, homemade hot food, sweet treats, and special performances from a children’s entertainer and our over 60’s ukulele group. With gardening and arts and crafts activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

We also had a cake decorating stall with our healthy cooking teacher and a gardening/horticulture stall. Here children could plant herbs in our brand-new raised bed and learn all about food growing and the benefits of gardening.

At a time when the cost of living is rising, our community events are more important than ever. With access to affordable food and entertainment becoming harder and harder, we put on these events to provide opportunities for our community to have fun and socialise without worrying about the cost.

One of our favourite things about hosting events like our Community Picnic is seeing everyone come together! Special thanks to our Project Managers for organising the event and everyone who helped on the day, including our celebrity volunteer, Jacey Sallés, who has starred in Holby City, Cold Feet and Casualty. We couldn’t have done it without you! Here’s to more Community events in the future.
