If you’re looking for a way to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride in a meaningful and impactful way, come along to The Outside Project’s annual Sober Picnic, Outsider Pride!
Taking place in our Community Park on Wednesday, June 28th, from 12:30-4:00 pm, this event is a sober and inclusive gathering free from corporate branding and rainbow logos. Families, activists, and allies are all welcome to come together and commemorate the Stonewall riots and the LGBTQ+ homeless individuals who bravely fought for their rights.
The Outside Project is a vital LGBTQ+ Community Shelter, Centre, and Domestic Abuse Refuge that provides a safe haven for those within the LGBTQ+ community who are homeless, ‘hidden homeless’, or marginalised.
Our community association is proud to have been working with The Outside Project since 2018 to support their ongoing efforts to create a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to hosting the annual Sober Picnic, Outsider Pride, we have also provided free spaces for their Outsidermas event, which provides food, shelter, and entertainment for the LGBTQ+ community on Christmas Day.
Furthermore, we have also welcomed the Outsiders Project football team, Outiders United, who hold weekly LGBTQ+ football training sessions on our sports pitch every Wednesday. These sessions provide a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community to access sports and stay active.
By partnering with The Outside Project and supporting their initiatives, we aim to create a more welcoming and inclusive community for all. So mark your calendars for June 28th, and come join us for a day of community, activism, and celebration.
