We’re proud to present Health on Film: a new, free documentary series inviting our local community to explore health and wellbeing through the lens of powerful, thought-provoking cinema.
Hosted in our Community Cinema in Clarence Hall (NW1 8RN), this monthly series features a selection of acclaimed films that shine a light on the deep connections between mind, body, and environment, reflecting the biopsychosocial model of health. This approach recognises that health is influenced not only by biological factors but also by psychological and social elements, offering a holistic view of wellbeing.
From individual journeys of healing to wider social and cultural perspectives, each film provides a starting point for meaningful conversation about the diverse factors shaping our experiences of health. Whether you’re curious about the human experience, interested in health, or simply passionate about cinema, Health on Film is for you.

What to Expect

Each screening takes place on the last Thursday of the month, followed by an informal and friendly discussion. It’s a chance to reflect on the film’s themes, share your thoughts, and hear different perspectives in a supportive, inclusive space.

By creating space for reflection and conversation, this series aims to spark new ways of thinking about health, not just as the absence of illness, but as something shaped by our relationships, our environment, our stories, and our ability to express ourselves.

Upcoming Screenings

Our upcoming screenings explore themes of life, death, healing, and identity. We begin with The Edge of Dreaming, followed by The Wisdom of Trauma with Dr.Gabor Maté, the tender and artistic Long Live My Happy Life, and All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, a portrait of activism through art. We will continue our programme with Seven Songs for a Long Life, capturing music and mortality in a Scottish hospice, and Silent Men, a candid look at masculinity and mental health.
