As part of their Mitzvah Day action, our friends South Hampstead Synagogue made a huge donation of non-perishable food, treats and toiletries to our Food Bank.

Shul members set up a collection point, South Hampstead Youth volunteered at various supermarkets and Mitzvah Day volunteers collected, sorted, and delivered donations.

We began our relationship with South Hampstead Synagogue back in June 2020 when they read about us setting up a Food Bank in the local newspaper, The Ham & High, and began organising weekly collections at their Synagogue.

This led to our food bank being included as part of their Mitzvah Day celebrations, which take place in November each year. Mitzvah Day is an annual day of faith-based social action that celebrates Jewish values by encouraging acts of loving kindness throughout the community. South Hampstead Synagogue Mitzvah Day volunteer Ben Leon said, “This year more than ever, we all appreciated a day filled with spreading love, kindness and chesed – coming together as a community to repair our world.”

Our Food Bank relies on the generosity of our community to help support those experiencing food insecurity. Donations make up 50% of our food resources and provide nourishment and hope to many in our community.
