Introducing Our New Community Cinema Partners: UFP Film Club

Since launching in 2024, our community cinema in Clarence Hall has showcased films from across the globe on the first Thursday of every month. From the Oscar-winning South Korean thriller Parasite to the critically acclaimed Tunisian documentary Four Daughters, Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days, and timeless classics, we’ve embarked on an extraordinary cinematic journey.

What started with just a handful of attendees has grown into a thriving community of regulars, all united by a shared love of film. This success was made possible by our dedicated volunteers, whose hard work in programming, facilitating, and promoting the cinema turns each event into a celebration of community spirit.

Last year, we attended a Cinema For All workshop, where we discovered shared goals of fostering community inclusion and tackling financial barriers to cinema access, amplified by the cost-of-living crisis. Inspired by these values, we partnered with the UFP Film Club in Bedford to make our community cinema more inclusive.

Martin, UFP Film Club’s director, grew up in Camden, playing football at Castlehaven. Reconnecting with his roots, he attending one of our Community Cinema screenings.

Soon, Martin and UFP volunteers became key to Castlehaven Community Cinema, hosting Q&As and discussions our audience had long wanted but we couldn’t previously offer.

The UFP Film Club’s commitment to showcasing independent films, connecting audiences with filmmakers, and sparking meaningful discussions has transformed our cinema into a unique and inspiring experience enjoyed by all.

Castlehaven Community Cinema has become more than just a place to watch films - it’s a space for connection and shared storytelling. Partnering with UFP Film Club has brought new voices and perspectives, making our screenings even more meaningful.

Upcoming Events

Our Community Cinema and UFP are teaming up for exciting events, including an an independent cinema exhibition, and a special screening of the critically acclaimed Nickel Boys (2024), currently its theatrical run.

These events present a fantastic opportunity for collaboration, audience growth, and shared inspiration as we continue to celebrate the magic of cinema together.

So, if you have a love for cinema and would like to meet like-minded people, come along to our Community Cinema Screenings on the first Thursday of every month. Check out our next screening here.Â
