On Friday, the 5th of January, we had the privilege of welcoming the Mayor of Camden, Nazma Rahman, to Castlehaven to meet the young people who attended our Winter Holiday programme and take part in some of our amazing activities.

The Mayor wholeheartedly embraced the Castlehaven spirit, getting stuck into arts & crafts and engaging in conversations with attendees of our holiday programme.

Understanding the importance of offering local families opportunities for active, educational, and social experiences for their children during the holidays, and with the support and funding of the Young Camden Foundation’s Holiday, Activities, and Food program (HAF), we were able to provide four days of free activities and trips for 8-17 year olds, from the 2nd – 5th of January.

Activities included chess, drama, DJ mixing, arts & crafts, animation gardening, multisports with Olympic Fitness Inc, Drumming with Mbilla Arts, football training with Futsal Stars Foundation, special outings to the cinema, and last but not least a trip to the pantomime (oh yes we did).

Not only were we able to provide a huge range of activities, but we were also able to provide every child with a free homemade lunch, made in our onsite kitchen by our fantastic chef Milon.

No wonder one of the young people said that “coming to Castlehaven was one of their favourite things to do!”

None of this could happen without the support of Young Camden Foundation. Their funding enables us to organise holiday programmes, offering local children, young people, and their family’s opportunities for learning, fun, and enjoyment in a safe and welcoming environment. We can’t wait for the next one!
