New Baking Project with UCL Students

New Baking Project with UCL Students

 Tue, November 20, 2012

On Friday 9th Nov 2012 a group of enthusiastic UCL students arrived here at CCA laden with bags full of butter, flour, eggs etc ready for baking cakes with members of CCA HELPS.

The aim of the Intergenerational Baking Project is to give local older people somewhere to get to know young adults whilst swapping skills, learning a thing or two and then enjoying the fruits of their labour by sharing and eating the cakes together over a few cups of tea.

Much fun was had by all and everyone who attended said they'd met someone new and found out about student life and vice versa. They baked Victoria sponges and scones, both with jam and whipped cream.

'It was wonderful, the cakes were tasty and I couldn't eat another bite. The students were really helpful and very interesting, I'm looking forward to the next baking project!'

The next Baking Project is scheduled for Friday 14th Dec - Smal festive cakes & cookies at 12pm-3pm in the Castlehaven Community Centre's Main Hall. Please contact Tricia Richards if you'd like to attend this fun project on 0207 692 2238 or
