This service offers a wider educational experience and additional professional support to children and young people who might otherwise find access to such facilities difficult or too costly.
There is much documented evidence that children and young people involved in positive activities are less likely to commit crime and behave in an antisocial manner. Our service promotes a sense of belonging by involving children in decision making and encouraging all members of the community to work in partnership.
Parents are constantly consulted, given information, supported and offered training at the Community Centre. The project has an impact on the whole local community.
As well as key worker support the project offers a number of interesting and age appropriate games and activities including
- cooking
- sports – football, cricket, tennis, hockey, basketball etc.
- computers in the IT suite
- internet radio broadcasting
- dance
- drama
- eating healthy snacks and meals together
- homework support
- art
- off site trips and residential holidays
