CCA Help Elderly Local People Scheme (HELPS) Are you aged Over 50 years and live in Camden? Are you bored, lonely or just looking for something to do? Loneliness, isolation and exclusion in older age can happen for a variety of reasons. Some people are widowed, some find themselves less mobile than before and for others, friends and family may have moved away. All too often, this marks the start of a downward spiral into depression, illness and in many cases poverty. The Help Elderly Local People Scheme (HELPS) is part of the Castlehaven Community Association that provides a service that reaches out to older people living in Camden. We are tackling these problems head on with positive and inclusive activities, events and clubs that they can be a part of, enjoy and then encourage their friends and neighbours to get involved. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: COST OF MEMBERSHIP: WHAT BENEFITS DO H.E.L.P.S MEMBERS GET? Have your own Members Number and Card. Join any of our classes, clubs and activities held for Over 50’s in the Castlehaven Community Centre during the year. Receive regular mail-outs packed full of exciting events and activities, plus day or theatre trips, and holidays, organised especially for H.E.L.P.S members. Members have first choice of any day or theatre trips, events and holidays before non-members. If members cancel any booked day trip 10 days before the day trip, members will receive a FULL REFUND. If members cancel after this they may not receive their money back, if we cannot fill their seat. Every member is allowed to invite ONE guest on any day or theatre trips, events and holidays. The only requirement is that they have to be over 50 years, but can be from outside the Camden Borough. Guests pay 25% more on all day or theatre trips, events. And £25 more on our organised holidays. Members have the chance to tell us what they would like to do, visit or even get involved in, by filling in our yearly members surveys. Members have the chance to volunteer some time to help at CCA HELPS events, clubs and local projects. Members can make many new friends and neighbours at CCA HELPS. Each member receives a birthday and Christmas card each year! The most important benefit for a CCA HELPS member is that you have lots of fun and make many good friends!
