Castlehaven Community Association offers a wide range of activities and services for young people aged 13 -19 years old in and around the Camden area. Based in The Haven Youth Café we currently run The Haven Youth Project and The Senior Youth Inclusion Programme.
1 The Haven Youth Project
The Haven Youth Project aims to engage and involve young people in safe, fun, positive and constructive activities and offers an ongoing varied programme for young people in the Camden and surrounding areas.
The Haven Youth Project is open Monday – Friday from 6.30-9pm and runs from the fully functioning Haven Youth Café which includes:
- a café/lounge area, and kitchen area
- professional dance studio,
- state of the art music and recording studio,
- a computer suite,
- web radio station,
- outdoor floodlit sports pitch,
- counselling room.
This project also opens during all school holidays and partners with a number of local agencies to provide a wide and extensive timetable of activities, workshops, trips and residentials.
To become a member please download, print out and send us the completed registration form with a copy of some photo I.D. that has your date of birth on it.
The Senior Youth Inclusion Programme (Senior YIP) works with a core group of 50 teenagers aged 13-17 years old who have been identified as being most at risk of arrest, exclusion and/or truancy in and around the Camden area. The Senior YIP aims to help change young people's attitudes towards crime and anti-social behaviour by addressing any factors in their lives that put them at risk of involvement in offending or anti-social behaviour.
As well as receiving one-to-one input from allocated key workers, educational support, advice and guidance on training and employment available within the local community and the chance to meet and befriend new people, the Senior YIP works also hand in hand with the Haven Youth Project.
The Haven Youth Project and Senior Youth Inclusion Programme services are free with occasional costs attached to certain trips/activities and some events during school holidays.
2 Senior Youth Inclusion Programme:
The Senior Youth Inclusion Programme (Senior YIP) has been working in and around the Camden area since 2002 to reduce youth crime and anti-social behaviour amongst teenagers aged 13-17 years old who have been identified as being most at risk of arrest, exclusion and/or truancy.
The Senior YIP is based within the Haven Youth Project and aims to help change young people's attitudes towards crime and anti-social behaviour by addressing any factors in their lives that put them at risk of involvement in offending or anti-social behaviour and provides them with somewhere safe to go where they can learn new skills, take part in positive activities and receive one-to-one support.
