Youth Projects For Young People 8 - 13 Year Olds

Castlehaven Community Association offers a range of activities and services for young people aged 8 -13 years old in and around the Camden area. Based in The main community centre building we currently run The Haven After School and Holiday Project and Junior Youth Inclusion Programme and Transitions Project.

1     The Haven After School and Holiday Project

Open Monday to Friday from 4pm – 6pm (term time) and longer during school holidays (please call to confirm times) this free play service for children aged between 8 and 13 years offers a wide and varied programme of age appropriate activities which include:

  • cooking
  • sports – football, cricket, tennis, hockey, basketball etc.
  • computers in the IT suite
  • internet radio broadcasting
  • dance
  • drama
  • eating healthy snacks and meals together
  • homework support
  • art
  • off site trips  and residential holidays

2    Junior Youth Inclusion and Transitions Project

This service offers a wider educational experience and additional professional support to children and young people who might otherwise find access to such facilities difficult or too costly.

There is much documented evidence that children and young people involved in positive activities are less likely to commit crime and behave in an antisocial manner.  Our service promotes a sense of belonging by involving children in decision making and encouraging all members of the community to work in partnership.

Parents are constantly consulted, given information, supported and offered training at the Community Centre. The project has an impact on the whole local community.

As well as key worker support the project offers a number of interesting and age appropriate games and activities including
